10 Most Hated Buffy The Vampire Slayer Characters
Most teenagers seem rather pleasant compared with Buffy's little sister...
Anyone who’s seen Buffy the Vampire Slayer will know the characters are the best part of the show. Joss Whedon and his team of writers created a superb central cast who undergo fascinating evolutions over the course of seven seasons.
In addition to the heroes and heroines of Sunnydale, the writers also created a distinctive set of villains. Whilst some are certainly better than others, there are several antagonists who are completely vile. Their wickedness gets beneath the skin of the audience and you can’t help but loath them. And it’s also incredibly satisfying to see them meet their ends.
On the other hand, there are also a number of hate-worthy characters who aren’t villains. Indeed, as good as the writing is in this show, it’s not perfect. Some of the protagonists weren’t embraced by the Buffy fanbase, either because they were too dull or just simply annoying.
Of course, there will always be a variety of opinions about which characters are the most dislikable. But there are some individuals who are so obviously hateable it won’t come as a surprise to see them on this list...
10. Kennedy
The advantage of the Potential Slayers’ storyline is that Buffy is finally relieved of her burden at the end of Season 7. The disadvantage, however, is that none of the Potential Slayers are given much depth.
Kennedy is no exception. She’s just not very interesting compared to the old characters we all know and love. If you tried to describe Kennedy’s personality, you wouldn’t get very far. There’s just nothing distinctive about her.
In fact, the most interesting thing about Kennedy is her relationship with Willow. Yet this only makes her more dislikeable. Whilst she’s certainly not an annoying character when viewed in isolation, she just pales in comparison to Tara – Willow’s previous lover.
All things considered, the writers shouldn’t have given Willow a love interest in Season 7. Given how traumatic her last relationship was, it would have made more sense for her to remain single.
