When Bender joined the Ultimate Robot Fighting League, he rose straight to the top thanks to his popularity. When it came time to fight for real however, he was royally boned thanks to the sheer size of Destructor, and his “trainer” Master Fnog.

This was someone who Leela had dealt with in her past. As a teenager in Fnog’s martial arts class, Leela could kick any other student’s ass with one eye closed. This she did routinely, and yet Fnog always looked past her for tournaments and championships because she was a girl. Apparently, girls lack the will of the warrior.

So it turns out that sexism and misogyny are still alive and a real issue in the 31st century. Fnog had taken Destructor under his wing because he had the will of the warrior, but in reality he could win fights because he weighed 400 tonnes and was controlled by the small green alien from under the ring.

He and Leela got into a fight during Destructor’s bout with Bender, and to the surprise of absolutely no one, Leela won. She could have beaten him any way she wanted, but using Destructor himself was just too delicious to pass up.
