Randall Tier was a unique killer, and thus his death was also similarly unconventional. He was a man so out of it that he thought he was a Sabertooth Tiger, and constructed a gruesome Iron man suit made of bones and machines that he could maul people and break their bones with.

Randall was also a patient of Hannibal's which made him easy to corrupt and point in any direction Hannibal felt like. During a weird point in season two where Hannibal and Will kept trying to kill each other, they both used different serial killers to attack each other. Hannibal used Randall as his weapon of choice, directing him towards Will's house and telling him to kill.

Thanks to the fact Will has like a dozen dogs at any given moment, they were able to warn him in time, allowing him to fight Randall off, breaking his neck in the process. Then Will performed his first post mortem presentation, cutting Randall's body up and placing it inside a museum over a Sabertooth Tiger's skeleton, ironically making him the creature he always wanted to be.

This is one of Will's first kills that he performs in a similar fashion to Hannibal, and while the death is rather simple, it's also undeniably memorable for just how unsettling it is on a visual level.
