10 Most Paused TV Moments

3. Gus Fring's "Face Off" - Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad's final season was certainly full of show-stopping moments worth a second look, but its most iconic moment came at the end of the previous season, when drug kingpin Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) was wiped out by a bomb detonated by Hector Salamanca (Mark Margolis).

But at first it appears that Gus has come out of the explosion inexplicably unscathed, until the camera pans around to the other side to reveal that half his face has been ripped off, revealing his bloody skull underneath. After a few moments, Gus collapses to the floor dead.

It's a moment so shocking that fans couldn't help but immediately hit the pause button: grotesquely violent yet just ridiculous enough to be darkly funny without totally undermining its gravity.
