10 Most Powerful Supernatural Characters

After 15 seasons, who stands as the most powerful characters in the history of this beloved show?

At the time of writing this, barely a week has passed since Supernatural came to a close after a whopping total of 327 episodes.

Yes, it’s over, after 15 good, long years, with so many ups and downs, Supernatural finally ended on the November 19.

We’ve held these characters close to our hearts for a decade and a half, sharing in every comical gaff, tensing at every character death, and rooting for the Winchesters at every possible opportunity.

There are many people, including myself at the time, who said that Supernatural should’ve ended after Season 5. And while we may have gotten some rocky seasons in between, it all feels worth it now that we’re finally at this point of complete closure.

We know our heroes of Sam and Dean Winchester like the backs of our hands, and they’ve had many an impressive ally and villain alike. But, out of all of the great threats and folks who the Winchester brothers have had to battle, who stands an inch above the rest? Who was simply a disposable afterthought? And who reigned supreme in the realm of ultimate power?

So here we, as this list counts down the ten most powerful characters in all of Supernatural.

10. Death

The appearance of Death was a big deal on Supernatural that we all waited for for some time, anticipating the legendary horseman’s appearance.

When Death did finally appear, he certainly did not disappoint, being one of the most frightening and striking characters in the history of Supernatural thanks to the performance of Julian Richings in the role.

Death may be a glorified reaper - honestly, we don’t really know if he is or whether he has far more power than we could ever imagine - and that uncertainty is one of the things which means he only just manages to sneak in at the #10 spot on this list.

One of the undeniable things which shows us his power is how easily the other three horsemen were disposed of, whereas Death isn’t so easily defeated. However, the mystery about his true power comes predominantly from his casual claim that one day he’ll reap God, as if it were nothing more than the reaping of a human.

Death's demeanour is so composed that we’re lead to believe every word he says, and just in case his ambitious claims are true, we're hedging our bet and including him at #10 here.
