6. Oz Savages Veruca (Season 4, Episode 6)
Veruca enters the show at the start of Season 4 as the lead singer of Shy, a rock band that regularly performs at The Bronze. As time goes on, she strikes up a close friendship with Oz, fully aware that he’s already in a relationship with Willow.
It soon transpires that Veruca – like Oz – is actually a werewolf. Bonded by their shared condition, the two of them become more intimate with each other. Willow then discovers the truth, causing her relationship with Oz to fall apart. Given Willow is one of the most loveable characters in the show, experiencing her emotional fallout is a tough watch for Buffy fans, and it’s impossible not to hate Veruca for what she’s done.
Thankfully, her villainous ways come to an end when she faces her new love interest. After transforming into his werewolf form, Oz murders Veruca in a bloody fight to the death.
Whilst Willow’s heart is still broken by Oz’s betrayal, it’s hard not to enjoy Veruca’s demise. She’s one of the most hated characters in the Buffyverse, and she certainly deserved her savage death.
