10 Most Shocking Bojack Horseman Moments

6. Sarah Lynn Dies

Bojack Horseman
Netflix

Well, more accurately, Bojack kills Sarah Lynn by knocking her off the wagon by taking her on a nationwide bender.

Bojack’s selfishness is resounding here, as he decides to go on a drunken quest to make amends for all his wrongdoing, while simultaneously building to the worst thing he is ever to do. Sarah Lynn is his willing and hammered sidekick, but all she wants to do is go to the planetarium. A request that is repeatedly ignored.

When Bojack and Sarah Lynn find themselves staring up at the ceiling, on a bare mattress, in a ruined motel, the audience begins to anticipate that one of the pair may not survive this bender. Instead, in a subversion of expectations, Sarah Lynn switches on the TV and discovers she’s won an Oscar. A lifelong dream come true and in typical nihilistic fashion, amounting to nothing.

Bojack finally agrees to go to the planetarium. Admiring the building, Sarah Lynn expresses a desire to be something and someone else, saying she wants to be an architect; this is echoed from a previous episode where she says the same thing as a young starlet. Then, she says no more.

The screen fades to black with Bojack still talking to Sarah Lynn, as he realises she’s not there anymore.

Bowen Revill hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
