7. Pearl
It is dangerous being involved with the men of Boardwalk Empire as Jimmys ill-fated lover Pearl (Emily Meade) finds out. During Jimmys time in Chicago with Johnny Torrio (Greg Antonacci) and his crew, he became involved with Pearl, a prostitute who worked at the Four Deuces. As Jimmy and Pearls relationship grows, so does his relationship with Torrio and Al Capone but this leads to conflict with the Sheridan crew, an Irish-American crime family who notice Pearl and Jimmy cosying up to one another. She is brutally disfigured after being slashed in the face by Liam (who works for Sheridan) which leaves her career as a prostitute over (and any dreams she had of becoming an actress all but gone). That, mixed with an addiction to opium, her relationship with Jimmy deteriorates and in their finale encounter, Jimmy tells her a story from his childhood. When Jimmy leaves the room for a brief moment, she commits suicide much to Jimmys shock and dismay. In retaliation, Liam is executed by Richard Harrow.
