10 Most Shocking Moments In Spooks
4. Ros And The Home Secretary
Hermione Norris's Ros Myers was an ice queen for the majority of her run with Spooks. However, by the time her number was up, she had made herself integral to the continued success of the show.
Promoted to become Section D's leader after Adam Carter's demise, Ros guided the team through some difficult times, not the least of which was the threat posed by shady organisation, Nightingale, in Series 8. Nightingale planned to instigate a war between India and Pakistan, and humiliated long-serving Home Secretary, Nicholas Blake (Robert Glenister) in the process.
Blake's successor, Andrew Lawrence (Tobias Menzies) held a summit with the President of Pakistan in a lavish Greenwich hotel, only for Nightingale to incapacitate them both with a fast-acting drug, before priming a bomb to cover their tracks.
Whilst Lucas North rescued the President, Ros tried to drag Lawrence to safety, despite his pleas that she save herself. Ros, however, insisted that she would not let a good man die alone. As Lucas headed back to the hotel, against Harry Pearce's orders, the bomb detonated, throwing Lucas from the building and killing both Ros and Lawrence.
In the first episode of Series 9, Ruth Evershed revealed to Harry that Nicholas Blake had ordered their deaths, prompting Harry to poison the former Cabinet minister in revenge.
