10 Most Underappreciated Performances On TV Right Now

1. Rose McIver - IZombie

Agent May Theon Greyjoy
The CW

Rose McIver already gives a charismatic, fully-rounded, superlative performance in the more ordinary aspects of her character. She's equally comfortable with witty banter and the emotional heavy lifting

However, thanks to Liv's ability to take on the personalities of others, she's tasked with essentially playing a different character every week yet still anchoring everything in the recognisable persona of Liv.

The range that McIver exhibits across the show is beyond phenomenal. She's mastered dramatic portrayals of alcoholics and emotionless hitmen and provided endless laughs trying to solve crimes in the guises of a dominatrix or a primary school teacher. Across the series, she plays a truly bewildering number of archetypes and seemingly always knows when to exaggerate those characteristics and when to tone them down.

Consistently flawless acting is an accomplishment by itself, let alone consistently flawless acting with an inherently inconsistent character that demands totally different qualities on an episode-by-episode basis.

There's not a single note on the emotional spectrum that McIver hasn't been tasked with hitting, and she's aced every single last one. iZombie could easily have been a total mess of a show if it wasn't led by such a genuinely exceptional performance.
