10 Most Underappreciated TV Shows Of The Decade (So Far)

8. The Eric Andre Show

Orphan Black
Cartoon Network/Adult Swim

The brainchild of comedian Eric Andre, this bizarre and borderline-unbearable talk/sketch show parody is one of the most absurd series airing on Adult Swim, a programming block that was pretty much built on weirdness.

Combine the awkwardness and aloofness of Between Two Ferns with the bonkers slapstick stylings of Shooting Stars, and you’ll get a pretty accurate idea of how The Eric Andre Show plays out. It’s a parody of cheap 1980s public access talk shows, but it regularly features guests as famous as Tyler the Creator, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, and Flavor Flav. Andre’s uncomfortable and almost abusive interviews are interspersed with street level skits, while Eric and his crew (pretty much comprised entirely of comedian Hannibal Buress) attempt to either destroy or rebuild the show’s increasingly flimsy set.

Cringe comedy tends to be niche by design, and The Eric Andre show is probably destined to remain a cult hit until it finishes its run. But it’s one of the funniest, most difficult shows currently airing on TV. As smart as it is stupid, The Eric Andre show could only exist in the 2010s, and while it has amassed a reasonable online following, new episodes of the show regularly trail reruns of Bob's Burgers and Family Guy in Adult Swim's Friday Night block.
