10 Most Underrated Actresses Currently Working In Television

2. Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black)

In the long and storied tradition of actors playing multiple roles on a project, it's rare for each one of those performances to come off nuanced, unique, and natural. More often than not, the actor seems to be playing slightly different variations of themselves, rather than investing in whole new portrayals.

Especially on television, when these characters have to be stretched across multiple seasons, with numerous personalities showing up in every episode, it would be lunacy to expect one person to pull each one off so effectively.

And yet, Tatiana Maslany makes it look so damn easy. She never goes for the broad characterization. She doesn't simply slap on a different, hackneyed accent and style her hair differently. She sinks into each one of her eleven roles with an appreciation for their personal backgrounds and respect for the audience.

Think about the last actor you saw taking on multiple roles in something. Actually, scratch that, just think of Eddie Murphy. Remember all those movies he played a whole bunch of characters in? Remember how awful those movies were because he relied entirely on makeup and fat suits and cheesy verbal tics to get the job done? Maslany is literally the exact opposite of that.
