10 Most Underrated TV Shows Of 2020 (So Far)

9. Batwoman

Batwoman shot itself in the foot long before it hit screens because its poor attempt at a trailer eradicated every last drop of anticipation that had been building for the show since Ruby Rose's Scarlet Knight debuted in the previous year's Arrowverse crossover. Though its first season kicked off with a promise that it would be better, it wasn't until it returned for the second half earlier this year that it really hit its stride.

Following Crisis On Infinite Earths, Batwoman had a renewed sense of purpose, showcasing all of the elements that were good in its first half to a much greater degree. All of its underlying subplots came together really well, giving the cast a number of well-earned chances to shine. And the glue that held all of it together was Alice - who, thanks to Rachel Skarsten's multi-layered performance, quickly became one of the Arrowverse's best ever villains.

Batwoman will probably never get the credit that it deserves because of that dreadful trailer, and the controversy over Ruby Rose's unexpected departure will probably ensure that it never will, but the truth is that the writers did a bang-up job of making the Scarlet Knight's debut offering a pleasant surprise - and it was, without question, the best of 2020's Arrowverse seasons.

Whatever happens next, it will always have that.
