Show: Friends Ross and Rachel were the pairing that drove, even when they weren't officially together, the entirety of the hit series Friends. The show ran for ten seasons between 1994 and 2004, and made a star of Jennifer Aniston (and the rest of the cast, to a lesser extent), who portrayed Rachel. Ross (David Schwimmer) and Rachel were the super-couple throughout, even when apart. The show basically starts out with Rachel, having fled from a marriage, joining friend Monica's social circle. Her brother Ross has had a crush on Rachel for years, and coming off a failed marriage, attempts to pursue her. Zany antics ensue, because of course they do, but Ross and Rachel was another "will they or won't they" couple who stringed audiences along, despite how badly most of the audience wanted the pair together. Unlike many sitcoms, however, even after they got together (and later fell apart), the show remained popular (in its eighth season, the show was number one in the ratings). In the series finale, Ross and Rachel do get back together, giving everyone the happy ending they wanted.
