Show: Dallas Sue Ellen Shepard married into wealth and power when she married J.R. Ewing, but when we meet the now Mrs. Ewing in the first season of Dallas, she's a one-note character struggling with alcohol and unhappy with her marriage. Later on, however, the character would have a greatly expanded role, and the couple's troubles would become unforgettable. Why? Well, the former Miss Texas had to deal with multiple affairs by her husband, and the couple divorced and remarried several times. She eventually fled to Europe after promising to ruin him, but returned. Over the years, the couple fought, Sue Ellen shot J.R., they cheated on each other, she launched a film production about his life, digging up all the unseemly details - yet they kept getting back together. Unforgettable more for how dysfunctional they were than anything else, after the death of J.R. in 2012 (due to actor Larry Hagman's passing), the character Sue Ellen read a letter J.R. had written to her stating that he wanted another chance with her, and referred to him as "the love of her life." Some people never learn.
