Show: Moonlighting Running from 1985 to 1989, Moonlighting made Bruce Willis a star, and reintroduced audiences to Cybill Shepherd, who had found early success in Hollywood by starring in The Last Picture Show, The Heartbreak Kid, Taxi Driver, and others, before projects dried up and she returned to her home town of Memphis to appear in regional theatre. Upon her return to Hollywood, she appeared in the pilot for the short-lived Masquerade and starred in The Yellow Rose, which followed a ranch-owning Texas family and aspired to be a little bit Dallas, but didn't last more than a season. Interestingly enough, the network airing Moonlighting (ABC) was initially resistant to the casting of Willis, as executives didn't believe he could have realistic sexual tension of Shepherd. Once the show was on the air, there was over two years of "will they or won't they" tension between them before they finally consummated their relationship - at which point viewers began tuning out. The question had been answered, Willis filmed Die Hard and became a star, and the show was eventually cancelled.
