10 One-Time Saturday Night Live Hosts Who Should Host Again
10. Patrick Stewart
Hosted: February 5, 1994 In 1994, Sir Patrick Stewart hosted Saturday Night Live with musical guest Salt-N-Pepa. During his monologue, Stewart made it pretty clear that he and everyone watching knew exactly why he had been invited to 30 Rockefeller that evening: Star Trek: The Next Generation, and in the monologue the then-Captain Jean-Luc Picard mocked the role and the general obsession with Star Trek trivia in a good-natured ribbing style. Now, twenty years later, Stewart has become better known as another science-fiction icon, that of Professor Charles Xavier of X-Men fame. His appearance on Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's show Extras and voice-acting on Seth MacFarlane's American Dad has only solidified the comedic timing and delivery Stewart first showed he was capable of while playing Captain Picard on a Star Trek: TNG / Love Boat mash-up and the owner and sole proprietor of an erotic cake store in his first episode of SNL. Stewart will turn 75 in July of 2015; his window to return to SNL is not getting any wider.
