So in the event of a Judgment Day scenario (the biblical kind, not the one with terminators), my admittedly limited understanding is that good people go to heaven, bad people go to hell, and the people in the middle are stuck in purgatory. Well, that's what happens in The Leftovers. With all the particularly good and bad people dispatched, Earth is filled with all the rest of the people who didn't quite make the cut. And they're all stuck in a suburban community which is really kind of brilliant, because there's nothing on earth more like purgatory than suburbia. Oh, and sorry, did I not mention? Christopher Eccelston is going to be starring in it. And if he's signed on, you know the script must have been something special (I think we all should determinedly avoid mentioning the second GI Joe film at this juncture). Look, the point is that Eccelston is usually pretty good at picking projects, and I'm certainly not going to pass up the opportunity to have him on my television again. This one will be airing on HBO, with a 10-episode season set to air sometime in 2014.
