10 Predictions For The Future Of Humanity (According To Doctor Who)

4. Drugs Will Bring Out Psychic Powers

Supernatural phenomena in the modern day are a weird one. There are often perfectly rational explanations for things like ghosts and supposed telepathy, whether it€™s people just straight up lying or else some mix of auditory and visual hallucinations. There are other fringe scientists who suggest that these phenomena could actually exist, but they€™re simply beyond our realms of comprehension right now. Some weird (and totally legit) studies with regards to psychic powers have been conducted over the years, with the usual conclusion being that we simply don€™t know enough about them yet to really understand them. Which is basically what happens for a good long while in the timeline of humanity Doctor Who has carved out thus far. Low-level psychic powers were touched upon in the likes of Planet Of The Spiders, Image of The Fendahl and The Unquiet Dead, but apparently a massive leap forward will occur at some point in the next couple of centuries. That€™s when the Virgin New Adventures book The Left-Handed Hummingbird takes place, and where humanity has invented a drug that expands our minds and lets us tap into parts of the brain we never had control over before. Like that Bradley Cooper film, Limitless, except it€™s going to happen for real! Or so Doctor Who claims. And The Doctor would never want to mislead us, would he?
