10 Predictions For The Marvel Netflix Series

9. Matt Murdock And Luke Cage Will Be Friends In A.K.A. Jessica Jones

Moving on to the second Marvel Netflix series, A.K.A. Jessica Jones, fans now know that Krysten Ritter is cast as Jessica Jones and that Mike Colter is cast as Luke Cage. With this news, it is certain that Luke Cage will debut in this series, probably revealing that he is Power Man. Other plot-lines seem equally certain: when Jessica and Luke meet, fans should expect some sparks to fly and then a romance to blossom. Just as likely, Daredevil will guest star to maintain the profile of the blind man-in-red. With DD guest starring, the opportunity exists for some serious male bonding. After all, neither man takes any... um, nonsense, so viewers should expect them to get along, what with their broadly similar attitudes. Once the Jessica-and-Luke-falling in-love plot thread is introduced, viewers should anticipate that this story-line will be dragged out all the way into the third Netflix series, Luke Cage. But what else is likely for Jessica Jones's eponymous programme? Well, a confrontation with Typhoid Mary could easily be on the cards, since Luke Cage and Jones joined up to fight her alongside Daredevil in 2003's Daredevil issue 36. And Typhoid Mary is a character who could easily be realized with relatively few special effects. Viewers should also expect much of Jones's comic-book past to be ditched; frankly, her origin story and early adventures are a hot mess, replete with a too-confusing range of different aliases (Jewel and so on), too many comas, and too often messing up. In several issues, Jones is a villain; interestingly, in one comic she encountered and fled from the Defenders. Jones also worked briefly at the Daily Bugle and went to school with Peter Parker, but these are continuity references that go too far and almost certainly won't be used, not least because of copyright issues with the cinematic outings of Spider-Man.
