10 Reasons Why Elementary Is Better Than Sherlock

4. Sherlock Vs. Holmes

Now, I'm not about to come out and declare that Jonny Lee Miller is better than Benedict Cumberbatch. In fact, we have almost the perfect evidence to show that their acting skills are as good as each other. Back in 2011, both Miller and Cumberbatch were involved in a rather unique performance of Frankenstein at the National Theatre. Both of them played Dr. Frankenstein and the monster, alternating the roles on different nights. So one night, Miller would play Frankenstein with Cumberbatch as the monster, and then the next night Cumberbatch would be Frankenstein with Miller in the monster role. Both the actors received good reviews in both of the roles, although obviously they highlighted different aspects of the characters and didn't just copy each other's performances. Something that the reviews at the time didn't cover was how the performances changed over time, because I'm sure that there must have been a sense of one-upmanship going on, it would be only natural. I'm sure this relationship has continued with both of them playing Sherlock Holmes. But I will say one thing that is for certain, something that is linked to a previous entry on this list. By the end of the current season, Benedict Cumberbatch will have been excellent in nine episodes of Sherlock. However, Jonny Lee Miller will have been excellent in 48 episodes of Elementary.
