7. We All Relate To Machines Better Than People
Fry's best friend is a robot, supposedly without thoughts, feelings or real consciousness (although that could be up for debate). You can call Philip weird , but it's no different from the behaviour of any modern person between the ages of 15 and 30. Nowadays nobody is without their respective technological device when they're out and about, and people also have a strange tendency to air emotions and opinions online that they would never say out loud to anyone else (yes, I realise the irony of that sentence). This is because the screen is our new friend, the screen won't laugh at us or yell back. The screen just sits there and does whatever we want it to do. Other people won't do that, so why bother talking to them. Case in point, this laptop is both my closest friend and my girlfriend. Take from that what you will.
