10 Reasons Why Batman Beyond Was The Best DC Animated Series

6. The Awesome Cyberpunk World

The landscape of Batman Beyond looked like it was taken straight out of a Philip K. Dick Novel. As the new Dark Knight patrols the streets in his flying Batmobile, fans can immediately see hints of Blade Runner in the aesthetics. The Neo-Gotham that Terry McGinnis protects as the Caped Crusader is a cyberpunk wonderland that could be what people see when they look out their windows someday.

This presumably anime-inspired futuristic mega city is shown to dwarf the original Gotham cityscape with colossal super towers in the opening credits. Showcasing the change in time and that metaphorically this series was to be bigger and better than any previous iteration.

The studio definitely stepped up its animation which helped sell this land of tomorrow to audiences that were used to seeing Batman in a more modern setting. It was definitely a gamble, but thanks to the sleek design and next-level visuals, Beyond definitely paid off in the end.

The new environment also provides Gotham's favorite vigilante with a new set of challenges and obstacles to overcome while protecting the people of Gotham. The intuitive and ambitious futuristic concepts enhance the narrative, solidifying Batman Beyond's place among the best ever made.
