10 Reasons You Absolutely Have To Watch Better Call Saul

2. Bob Odenkirk

It's all in the eyes you know, and in less than two hours Bob Odenkirk's expressed so many different emotions that you felt tired for them. The spectrum included outrage at Mike's pendency, quiet despair over losing his own name, nostalgia over 'Jimmy the Slip', incredulity that he should be the victim of a scam, revulsion at the sound of Tuco's boot going through Lars' leg and frustration over his brother's refusal to accept reality. It's no small achievement to convincingly merge drama with the vitriolic humour that made Saul such a fan favourite. When you throw in an unhinged impersonation of Mike as a troll, then you know you're watching a truly class act. Originally a comedy writer and performer, Odenkirk recently admitted to journalists that he still feels like a character actor - it's just that he's got more lines than usual now. The sheer volume of his dialogue, and the rapid but smooth delivery of it, is another feat worth noting, not least because it's simultaneous with substantial use of the aforementioned emoti eyes. Not bad for someone who doesn€™t consider himself to be a leading man.
