10 Recent TV Shows That Made ONE Huge Mistake
9. Ditching The Anthology Format - Goosebumps
Last year's Goosebumps series had a ton of potential on paper to bring the hit horror franchise back to the small screen for a whole new generation.
Except, this new take on R.L. Stine's legendary series of horror novels ditched the anthology format popularised by the 1990s TV series.
Instead, this rebooted take attempted to weave a number of classic Goosebumps novels into a continuous 10-episode series featuring the same ensemble cast - a bold if misguided approach which left many fans more frustrated than bowled over.
Tackling numerous iconic stories within the same narrative framework ended up feeling like more of a creative shackle than a bold remixing of what Goosebumps is. Basically, why tamper with a formula that's so damn perfect?
That said, the approach evidently didn't tank the viewership too much, as Disney renewed Goosebumps for a second season back in February, which will reportedly focus on a new cast of characters while presumably adapting another swath of Stine books into a season-long narrative.
