10 Recent TV Shows With The Worst CGI Moments

7. Travelling Through Time - Doctor Who

Terra Nova
BBC

The longest-running show on this list, Doctor Who is a cult classic in the sci-fi genre and has won audiences over with its high concept, ambitious narratives, and charming Time Lord at the lead.

Having been on the air for nearly 60 years, the show was bound to have questionable effects work and this has become more apparent in recent years. From hastily-rendered beings such as the Slitheen and Prisoner Zero as well as alien worlds, the British television staple has a laundry list of questionable VFX work.

For the purposes of variety on this list, the Tardis' various excursions through time will be used in this entry. The beloved police box/time machine/spaceship is the Doctor's primary mode of transport throughout the space-time continuum, and the CGI used to render these cosmic trips was often unimpressive.

Though the latter has improved over the last few years, it is still a far cry from the realm of photorealism. That said, part of the show's charm is its wonky effects work and lack of realism so this is not really an issue in the larger scheme of things.
