10 Saved By The Bell Plots That Are Certifiably Insane
6. Zack Tries To Kickstart The School Economy With Creepshots
(From "Model Students") This is an especially complicated one. On Saved By The Bell, the "nerd" characters were treated as something akin to a subhuman race deserving of universal scorn and disgust. The NERDS ran Bayside's school store (never seen before this episode), but they were ruining it by mostly stocking awful NERD items like pens, books, calculators...you know, stuff that a school store would sell. Well, and glow in the dark pocket protectors. OK, those are pretty bad. Zack and the gang really, really don't like this because Kelly somehow has a paying job there, and they think the store is going to go out of business. So many questions. Is Kelly's job after school? Wouldn't that barely even be part time, just during the hours where they have clubs/sports/detention? What kind of public school offers such a position in the first place? How well does it pay? The store is beautifully refurbished by Zack, basically adding school shirts and stuff like that, but nobody is coming in because of the NERD reputation. Zack decides they need a gimmick, thinks for a few seconds, and decides that it should be a "Girls of Bayside" calendar of the swim team. He sends Screech to the pool (in scuba gear, where he surreptitiously takes candid photos that mysteriously look professional and posed. The girls are pissed, but lighten up when photographer "Adam Trask" of the magazine "Teen Fashion" shows up in the principal's office as Mr. Belding is dressing down Zack. He just HAPPENS to know the owner of the print shop Zack used, and since he's always on the lookout for candid creepshots of scantily clad underage girls, he wants to do some kind of photo spread with Kelly, Jessie, and Lisa. He gives no proof of his identity, but this leads to him offering to take Kelly to Paris for a month. Zack goes crazy until Notable Child Pornographer Adam Trask tells him he's seen a ton of jealous boyfriends, but if Kelly really cares about him he'll come back. Kelly goes off to Paris for a month and we never hear about her career again. Hopefully it wasn't a traumatic experience.
