10 Scariest Buffy The Vampire Slayer Episodes

7. Restless

Buffy The Vampire Slayer is almost certainly single-handedly responsible for the uptick in prophetic dreams throughout the popular fiction that followed in its wake. It almost became a running joke in the show: whenever a big bad needed to be introduced, half the time it was in the form of a fever dream Buffy would wake up from in a start, covered in sweat. Obviously aware of their reliance on the trope, as the show went on the writers began to play with the use of dreams and the weirdness thereof in later episodes of the show. Restless was a most unusual season finale, following the group's triumph over the villain Adam with some wind-down time for the Scooby Gang. Which doesn't end up being all that relaxing, as in the tradition of €œNightmares€ they all have a bunch of weird, creepy dreams as a result of combining their consciousnesses to defeat Adam. It's Buffy's surreal, eerie encounter with the First Slayer that still has the power to get under your skin, even after you've learned she's not all bad.
