10 Scariest Characters In Horror TV Shows

There are many American Horror Story characters that could have made this list, and choosing just one was almost impossible. But there was one that rose above the rest in terms of fear, and that is Twisty The Clown.

For starters, Twisty's, erm, look, is probably the scariest and most inventive image American Horror Story has managed to cook up in its countless years on television. While clowns on a good day are considered to be one of the most common phobias around, Twisty definitely takes the cake.

With a hulking size and a gothically vintage costume that lacks a clown's distinct colourful pallet, from afar Twisty already captures your attention. But then you get up close. Twisty's clown make-up gives the eerie impression that it has been tattooed into his skin, and he wears a strange wig that looks as if he's ripped the scalp off of another, more unfortunate clown. Scariest of all, in lieu of a smile, Twisty wears a mask around his jaw that demonstrates a callous grin. Underneath a mangled jawline ominously resides.

But his image isn't the only terrifying thing about Twisty. From his first scene, the character exhibits an unsettling air. Without talking, he performs a silent routine and then proceeds to murder a young man and kidnap his distraught girlfriend.

It's the most terrifying introductory scene in AHS history, and for that alone Twisty makes the list.
