10 Seriously Overlooked British TV Shows
7. Legit
Comedy fans should lament the fact that Legit was only given one season, despite some contemporaneous critical acclaim, being passed over for renewal for reasons best known to the Beeb themselves. Written by Burnistoun creators Iain Connell and Robert Florence, Legit deserved more than just its superb six episodes.
Legit follows Sammy Fox (Steven McNicoll) aided by his pal Danny (Jordan Young), who sell knock off DVDs and pirated software at a fictional street market (assuredly based on the Barras, well known to Glaswegians), as he attempts to win back his ex and kids.
Until he does, he has to live in a caravan in the back garden of May's (Clare Grogan) house, Danny's mother (with whom Danny still lives).
Sadly, we only have this one season of Legit, and yet it managed to pack so much into just six episodes, with "Night of the Lobster" - in which Danny tries to recreate a lost and legendary horror film - and "Manitoba" - where a particularly famous clay head of Lionel Ritchie makes an appearance - being particular stand outs.
