10 Shocking Times Sidekicks Quit
7. W'Kabi - Black Panther
The MCU's W'Kabi was a staunch ally of T'Challa, the Black Panther. They were best friends while growing up and both became important parts of the Kingdom of Wakanda - T'Challa as prince, and W'Kabi as leader of the Border Tribe.
W'Kabi freely offered advice and opinion to T'Challa and his father T'Chaka on military and security issues. W'Kabi was also married to the head of the Royal Guard, Okoye.
They did, however, have differences of opinion when it came to Wakanda's past and future. W'Kabi's parents were killed by arms dealer Ulysses Klaue, who T'Challa's father swore he would bring to justice. For thirty years, he could not do so, leaving W'Kabi to have faith that his friend, as the new king, would find the killer.
When Killmonger arrived in Wakanda, with both Klaue's body and a claim to the throne, W'Kabi immediately turned on the Black Panther, feeling he was too soft to govern and believing in Killmonger's vision for a Wakanda that ruled the world.
After a final pitched battle between supporters of Black Panther and Killmonger, W'Kabi, realising he had been wrong and with his own wife ready to kill him, laid down his weapons and surrendered.
