Throughout the final season, Buffy and the gang are terrorised by the First Evil, a twisted entity that manipulates the living by turning into ghosts of the dead. And to make matters worse, they also have to fight against an onslaught of ubervamps.

Their sense of desperation increases still further when Caleb turns up in Episode 18. Using the abilities granted to him by the First Evil, this villainous priest overpowers everyone he meets…at least to begin with. After obtaining the Scythe – an ancient weapon containing the essence of the Slayers – Buffy manages to take him down.

But despite her victory, the war is far from over – our heroes still have to defeat the First Evil and the ubervamps. Back at the Summers’ household, Buffy comes up with a radical plan, which involves using the essence inside the Scythe to activate the Potential Slayers. By applying her magical abilities, Willow then performs the necessary spell, and Buffy’s plan becomes a reality.

This is a great example of Buffy’s ability to think outside the box. If it wasn’t for her clever brainwave, the Potential Slayers wouldn’t have stood a chance against the ubervamps.
