Most South Park fans know that there’s a hidden alien in most episodes. It roots back to the pilot episode when the mountain town received a visit from extra terrestrials and abducted baby Ike. Trey Parker originally wanted more episodes that involved an alien invasion but felt it would be too far into the genre of Sci-fi so instead just allowed the animation crew to insert a secret alien in an episode, if they wanted to.

But there is a significant reason for the several alien appearances. The town of South Park is based on a real place of the same name based in Colorado where there have been lots of UFO sightings, cattle mutilations and Bigfoot enthusiasts. The difference between the show’s version and reality is that the real South Park is a grassland flat, an area, not an actual mountain town.

The show has made hints about the real life South Park with the mention of Route 285, a road that leads through the area, as well as a map seen in the episode ‘The Scoots,’ which depicts many cities which are nearby the Colorado region.
