10 South Park Secrets You Totally Missed
4. There Are More Celebrity Cameos Than We Remember
Trey Parker and Matt Stone very seldom have celebrities do voice work for South Park. And if a famous star is given a role, it’s usually something very minor. Most fans are familiar with George Clooney’s bizarre cameo as Stan’s dog Sparky. It came about when the actor expressed interest to guest star on the show and was offered the role of the pet, to which he gladly accepted. As a result of his enthusiasm to work for the show, Clooney was offered a speaking role as Dr. Doctor in the South Park movie.
However, not all celebrities are willing to accept such trivial parts. Jerry Seinfeld also wanted to be in the show and was offered the part of a turkey in a Thanksgiving episode. Seinfeld was unimpressed and declined. Contrary wise, when Jay Leno was offered the job of doing the meow noises for Cartman’s cat, he was more than happy to do so.
Aside from that, many musicians have surprisingly appeared as themselves, even if it means they’ll be made fun of somewhat. The episode "Chef Aid" is a prime example of this as it saw several artists lend their voice for their own caricatures including Ozzy Osbourne, Elton John, Rick James, Meatloaf and Joe Strummer.
Perhaps the best one of all roots back to Season 3 when Jennifer Aniston guest starred not as herself but as Miss Stevens in "Rainforest Schmainforest". Fans were excited at the time just to hear the voice of ‘Rachel from Friends’ but since Aniston has become a household name over the years, the episode has only gotten more rewatchable with time.
