Kathy Bates' characters in AHS have been quite different from one another with Delphine being a racist narcissist and Ethel being a sweet and loyal bearded lady. Bates is one of the most well-respected and brilliant actresses out there and has starred in over 51 block busters. 

According to Murphy, Bates will be running the hotel in the newest season, so we can expect a hard-hitting, ball-crunching hotel manageress in the form of this amazing woman.
