10 Terrible Friends Storylines That Should Have Been Cut

Was anyone else horrified when this happened?

The entire premise of Friends initially revolved around Ross and Rachel, and while it's been made clear that Ross is far from perfect, the pair had history and chemistry, along with genuine affection for each other. Even when they broke up, it was only a matter of time before things were back on. So it seemed a really odd move to end the show's penultimate season with Rachel getting together with Joey.

It's hard to admit, but no one was really rooting for these two to work. The pair were much more suited in a brother/sister type relationship as roommates and it just seemed like a complete misstep to shoehorn any romantic feelings in there. While it had been teased for a couple of seasons, it was never really explained why they were attracted to each other, and the story merely seemed to be for dramatic purposes.

Just to add to the arguable mistreatment of the characters, the pair break it off merely a couple of episodes after they get together, realising what the fans had known for years - they were better off as friends. Really, there was just no point in any of it.

Plus, everyone wanted to see Joey and Phoebe together!
