10 Terrifying Batman: The Animated Series Episodes That Gave You Nightmares

6. Joker's Favor

There's a certain anxiety that comes from the mere feat of leaving the house, making that daily commute to work. Just suppose, in a city known for its costumed cads, that one day, the annoyances get the better of you and you decide to let that road rage out on the most psychotic of them all: the Joker.

Instead of outright killing you, he makes you a deal. One day, he'll come and ask for a favor in exchange for sparing your life. Two years later, he comes to collect with a simple request: help one of his henchmen deliver a cake to an awards ceremony.

This is one of the weirdest episodes, with Batman taking a backseat to the plight of Mr. Charlie Collins being forced to do the Joker's maniacal missions. On the surface, that probably doesn't sound all that unsettling. It's all about the visuals, and the fact that the Clown Prince is dedicating all his energy to terrorising an actual nobody.

From the very beginning, with an eerily calm Joker driving the poor everyman off the road, to the moment that everyone at the awards ceremony is gassed with a paralysis agent and the Joker plants a time bomb on Commissioner Gordon's tuxedo - all of these are just horrific in the most surreal way.
