10 Things Everyone Gets Wrong About Game Of Thrones

6. Sansa Stark Is Stupid

HBO

Until perhaps episode eight of the fourth season, fans have continuously expressed their frustration at Sansa. Almost constantly appearing as the most helpless of the Stark children, Sansa has long been accused of being one of the most stupid of all the characters on the show. It's easy to see why people make this assumption. Sansa at the beginning of the series is childlike, naive and hopelessly optimistic. This innocence is quickly lost though, following the beheading of her father. Fans have expressed their frustration towards Sansa for being pathetic and passive, especially in comparison to the brash deeds of her siblings. However, it's exactly this pathetic persona that has kept her alive in the snakepit of King's Landing. Sansa, by the end of season four, has shown she has the potential to be a formidable player in the game of thrones. And there's no reason she shouldn't be, she's had some of the best teachers in the kingdom. Cersei Lannister taught her the confines of a woman's place in society, and how to overcome them. Lady Olenna showed Sansa how to see through deceit, and utilise this for her own means. Sandor Clegane taught her that heroes don't exist in this world and that nothing is black and white. Now, she's living under the guardianship of Petyr Baelish, possibly the greatest living player of the game, and revealed that she's more than just a scared little girl. Plus, despite the power Baelish may hold, she knows she's his one weakness, and how to play him. Frankly, that's a formidable card to hold.
