10 Things Non-Fans Don't Understand About Buffy The Vampire Slayer

9. Season 2 Is A Huge Step Up From Season 1

If you’re new to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season 1 might disappoint you.

As the oldest season, it’s obviously the most outdated. But the biggest issue is that the writers were still finding their feet in the first twelve episodes. Though ‘Angel’ and ‘Prophecy Girl’ offer a glimpse of what’s to come later, most of Season 1 is pretty forgettable.

Season 2, meanwhile, is packed with stellar episodes: ‘Halloween’, ‘Surprise’, ‘Innocence’, ‘Passion’, and the two-part finale are all outstanding pieces of television. And whilst ‘Bad Eggs’ and ‘Go Fish’ are pretty awful, they’re still entertaining owing to how ridiculous they are.

Buffy’s second season transforms the show into something quite remarkable. If you were put off by the patchy quality of the earlier episodes, you should give the show another try. By the time you hit the middle of Season 2, you’ll probably be hooked on the Scooby Gang’s adventures.
