The Simpsons doesn't really reflect real life - except when it does. There are plenty of lessons that can be learned from the show which easily apply to real-life situations. Sure, Homer's not the greatest of teachers (you shouldn't necessarily do what he says, and definitely shouldn't do what he does), but he's got a good heart. Lisa can be a voice of wisdom, as can Marge at times; Bart... well, okay maybe not Bart. Most of the time at least. In any case, there is many a moment on the show that can serve as a life lesson, and some overall themes that are carried over through multiple episodes that can be applied to your life. We're not just talking those episodes that turn back the clock and look at Homer and Marge starting out, either. Believe it or not, there is plenty to be learned from The Simpsons even in the "present" - in other words, you don't just have to look at some old sappy episodes for examples. So, with all that said, let's get started. What has the show taught you better than your own parents (in many cases, anyway)? Well, here are ten examples where the show did a better job at explaining the world than Mom and Dad.
