5. The Villains
Smallville ended 10 years ago and TV has come a long way since then and so has its format. Shows like Black Lightning, Marvel’s Runaways and Legion have formats that are markedly different to what was traditional superhero fare.
Superman and Lois could adopt a format where there doesn’t have to be a villain every week. the plot can be Lois chasing up stories, or Jonathan and Jordan (more on them later) working out how to use their Kryptonian powers. There doesn't always have to be a threat.
If a villain is included, the show has the luxury of having already established villains because Superman is an already established hero. You don’t have to show a villain from scratch.
