4. Your Partner Is Too Busy With Fan Art To Go Out

Being asked to attend a convention in costume with your Whovian partner isn't the end of the world, you know. After all, the request can be politely declined. But there is still a bigger problem ahead. Many Doctor Who fans like to take things a step further by turning the passive experience of watching a TV programme into the active experience of creating something new that's inspired by that show. Cosplay is a way of doing that too (those costumes don't make themselves), but there are so many more ways of being creative when the Doctor Who muse strikes. For the artistically inclined, there's drawing pictures of characters and monsters, reading fan fiction and writing your own, and even carving Who-themed Halloween pumpkins. These creative projects are fulfilling and fun but they can take up a lot of time. In fact, they can take up
so much time that there's not much left to do ordinary things with the non-Whovian partner. Of course, Whovians are entirely reasonable and are quite willing to put down their paintbrushes and pens at the appropriate time. Like when Doctor Who is on the air or when they want to go to conventions, for example.
