The X-Files Revival: 10 Things We Learned From 'Founder's Mutation'

3. The Smoking Man Was Dearly Missed In This Episode

We touched on the reappearance of the "cancer man" (or Smoking Man if you prefer) following the premiere episode of The X-Files revival, My Struggle. The fact that the show has opted (presumably) to go with the storyline that he survived a missile blast is a bit much, even for a show where no one "really" dies - but nonetheless, it's good to have the best bad guy on television back. Which is why he was so dearly missed in this outing. Sure, overtly, it was a Monster of the Week episode, but recall that, from time to time, ol' Smokey would turn up in regular X-Files in the first few seasons, lurking in the background, looking menacing in Skinner's office. Now that we know he's alive, it would be nice to see him playing puppet master once more. Because he no doubt is doing just that off screen.
