In the apparent White Lodge sequence, ??????? surveys, with a weary expression, the creation of the Convenience Store and the birth of BOB on a screen in the same theatre Lynch used for Club Silencio in Mulholland Drive. This fuels more fire that the memory of that never-was TV show lay as dormant in the recesses of his mind as the town of Twin Peaks did.

This suggests that ??????? is an omniscient, God-like being, lending the next sequence a certain parabolic significance. ??????? ascends to the rafters of the theatre before it is suspended horizontally. Glittering lights materialise from its head and form a constellation. A golden orb descends from it and lowers into the palms of Seniorita Dido.

Laura Palmer's homecoming queen photograph shines through the sphere, which is marvelled at and then sent to Earth through a pipe. The way in which this is both framed and received by Dido suggests that Laura is not a biological product of Leland and Sarah but a saviour moonchild spirited into existence (and secluded, like the subject of TSHOTP minor character Aleister Crowley's novel, in a remote North American township) in order to combat the evils generated by Mother.

And people, in a far simpler time, speculated that Lynch would cast Sheryl Lee as a third, redheaded cousin of Laura's...
