To fans of Breaking Bad, Krysten Ritter is Jane Margolis, the dark-haired pale girl who dates Aaron Paul's Jesse Pinkman and has a rather tragic story. She was only actually in 9 episodes of the hit series, and it's a testament to Ritter's acting that even now her character is so well loved and remembered by viewers.
Last year, however, saw Ritter truly break out as a star, with the lead role on Marvel's Jessica Jones. It turns out that all those other performances were just a precursor to what was to come here, with the actress delivering a layered performance that perfectly encapsulated the character's strength, anger, hurt, and troubles, making Jones so much more than your generic superhero.
Thankfully, while it may have missed out on awards recognition (it was surely deserving of an Emmy nomination), it's a performance we're going to be seeing a lot more of: Jessica Jones will be a key part of next year's Defenders, and then the solo series will return for Season 2 in 2018.
We know Jane Margolis, we know Jessica Jones, so now it's time to get to know the actress behind the roles, AKA Krysten Ritter.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
