In an interview with the LA Times, Alison revealed that the character shes desperate to play is a mental patient. Apparently shes been fascinated with playing crazy people since college. Theres elements of this in her portrayal of Annie Edison, who had a mental breakdown at high school. Shes had fun bringing out Annies uncontrollable edge in episodes such as Cooperative Calligraphy. Still, its an unusual response to the question of an actors dream character. Most would say someone with a lot of power, an evil villain or transparent hero. Its interesting that Bries more attracted to roles whose motivations would be much more ambiguous. Apart from anything else, its a very actorly response to the question, which suggests shes interested in the craft and will look for more serious roles in the future.
