As is widely known, Alyson Hannigan is well known for playing Michelle Flaherty in the American Pie franchise, the band geek who went on to marry protagonist Jim. Little less well known is that Alyson Hannigan was also a band geek for real. She played the clarinet growing up, but gave it up before reaching high school, unlike Michelle, who was playing all kinds of instruments (and using them for questionable purposes) until much later. She wasn't just into the arts, however; another activity that Hannigan participated in at school was football (soccer), but she was forced to give up due to a series of persistent injuries.
