After graduating from High School, Behrs moved down to Los Angeles to study at UCLA's School of Theatre, Film and Television, following in the footsteps of notable alumni such as Tim Robbins, Nicholas Cage and Jack Black. One of her major performances during her time at UCLA saw her cast as Sandy in a production of Grease, before graduating with a degree in critical studies and was awarded with the Young Musician's Foundation Vocal Scholarship. Aisde from academics though, Behrs spoke to The Sydney Morning Herald about her reign as Miss Marin County: "I won and I went on to Miss California and we did a lot of interview training and I got scholarship money that helped me pay for college. I don't think I'd do it again. A lot of those girls dream of being Miss America. That was never my dream but I learnt a lot."
