While Jessica Hamby went on to feature as a major character across the entire run of the show, escalating fro just a couple of guest appearances in the first season. After being asked whether she expected a major role when she was cast, Woll told Interview Magazine: "No, I knew almost nothing about it. The show hadn't aired yet, they were about halfway through shooting the first season. When I came on, they said it would be, a two-episode arc. I was this punishment for Bill, so I had to be the frightened human child in the first episode, and then the annoying, bratty teen in the second episode. "In that episode, Bill drops me off with Eric so I was like, "Well, that's great!" That means over the next couple years, if Sookie and Bill ever go to Fangtasia, I'll pop up here and there. They ended up asking me before the end of that first season if I would like to come back and be a regular the next season. I guess they saw some potential in the character."
