10 Things You Learn Re-Watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine

8. How Much Jake Grows Up

We first meet Jake Peralta as a complete man-child with no concept of how to function in adult life.

By his own admission, he is up to his eyes in crippling debt, and he keeps all of his mail in a colossal pile in his bathtub. Basically, he's a mess.

Watching Jake's growth throughout the seasons is one of the things that makes the show so satisfying to watch. The extent of his personal growth, however, is not always plain at first.

It's an obvious transformation, but the true breadth of it is deceptive, in part down to the show's focus on his childish side - something we all love him for.

In amongst his fondness for sweet treats and excitement about every aspect of police life, there lies an increasingly competent and well-rounded man, and there are bound to be more than a few parts of his journey that you missed the first time around.
